Historic Resources Board
The Historic Resources Board meets the first Tuesday of each month in Council Chambers at City Hall, 311 Second Street, San Juan Bautista at 6:00 p.m. The Historic Resources Board consists of five members appointed by the City Council all serving four-year terms. Stream meetings live at CMAP TV.
Dan DeVries, Chairperson![]() Dan has been involved in the local community for over 25 years, first serving as the Chairman of the San Juan Bautista Planning Commission for 14 years, prior to being appointed to the San Benito County Planning Commission where he served for the past 12 years representing western San Benito County. Tony Correia, Vice Chair![]() Tony Correia lives in San Juan Bautista with his wife Stephanie and enjoys travel, photography, great literature and music, fast cars, slow cooking, gardening, the study of wine, and the pursuit of knowledge. Stephanie and Tony were married here in the San Juan Mission in 1986 and returned to live here in 2020. Tony is widely recognized as a leading authority on the valuation of vineyards and wineries, and other agricultural and rural properties and has valued such properties from Hawaii to Virginia. He is a frequent speaker on agricultural properties; valuation, taxation, and estate planning issues; water rights, and the wine industry and vineyard and winery markets. He has also been an instructor of valuation courses and seminars throughout North America and has also qualified as an Expert Witness in many local, State and Federal courts in California, Arizona, Nevada and Illinois. Tony was also recently recognized as one of four top leaders in the wine industry at a gathering of the Top 50 Leaders in the Wine Business in Napa, California. Tony is currently Principal and Co-Owner of The Correia Company based in San Juan Bautista. After undergraduate work at Saint Mary’s College of California and Syracuse University, Tony graduated from California State University, Fresno with a major and post-graduate work in English and a second major in Russian. Prior pursuits include former lives as a grape grower, partner in a large commercial real estate brokerage, and various government positions including a tour as an IRS examiner, and as a military intelligence analyst, cryptanalyst, and linguist. David Medeiros, Board Member![]() I have lived in San Juan Bautista all my life. Sofia and I raised 5 children and have 10 Grandchildren. After graduating from Gavilan College, I completed my formal education at University of California, Santa Cruz in 1975 with degrees in Fine Art, Art History, and Education. In 1975 & 1976 I worked on several restoration projects to restore and preserve Mission San Juan Bautista architecture and paintings. Worked 27 years for IBM (1982) as a Manufacturing Test Technician, Warranty Technical Resolution and Manufacturing First Line Manager of Computer Storage systems and devices. While at IBM, I was also given special assignments as Quality Control and Safety Educator and Trainer where our entire Manufacturing Project, from production lines to executive administration, needed to be in compliant and audit ready as measure by IBM and ISO9000 standards. I have been a part of Mission San Juan Bautista and its city since the age of 12 years to the present as a family member serving the catholic church as a volunteer, teacher, director, and board member. For the city of San Juan Bautista, I participated in the development and implementation of 3 General Plans, served on many projects and committees, and appointed to several city government assignments. Since my retirement from IBM in 2009, my current personal occupation is digital photography, managing my own personal website, and displaying my artwork.
