City Council Selects Don Reynolds as City Manager

On June 18, 2019 the City Council will consider an employment agreement appointing Mr. Don Reynolds as City Manager. He will fill the position vacated when Michaele LaForge resigned in March 2019.

Mr. Reynolds is currently the Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Salinas. He has extensive public agency experience in redevelopment, project management and public works. A short biography is available here.

The recruitment process was managed by the Interim City Manager, Ed Tewes. The Council interviewed the most qualified candidates and received input from a community review panel. Based on his experience, skills and energy the Council selected Mr. Reynolds as the next City Manager.

Mr. Reynolds' compensation package was negotiated by a subcommittee of the City Council comprised of Mayor Flores and Vice Mayor Edge. They recommend that the annual salary will be $132,000 which will be reviewed annually following the establishment of performance goals.

Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the type of leadership and professionalism that will serve our citizens well and help San Juan Bautista meet the challenges of the future."

Mr. Reynolds' first day as City Manger will be Tuesday, July 2, 2019. The City will host a welcoming reception at the Library Tuesday afternoon on July 9.
